"text": "Getting off benzos was the most difficult thing I've ever had to do. It was pure torture for close to a year. I have to laugh at people who think Peterson becoming dependent on benzos somehow discredits him but imo it actually fortifies his teachings. He was self aware enough to realize he had a problem and then wad strong enough to remedy the problem. I'm not a disciple of his and there are plenty of things I disagree with but I respect the man and enjoy listening to his logic.",

"text": "I was on Xanax and Clonazepam for 14 years. I was also addicted to oxycodone for 10 years. The benzos were hands down the worst to get off of. I've been off of opiates since June 22, 2018 and benzos since January 2017. While getting off of benzos I had multiple seizures and really thought I was going to die. When getting off of opiates I felt like I was going to die but knew I just had to ride it out. Thank you God for helping me through it all!",

"text": "I have a friend whose downward spiral began with benzos. He was prescribed them for his PTSD after 2 tours in Afghanistan. He then began drinking heavily and went to opiate pills then heroin. Now he's on meth. He's a shadow of his former self. He's a skeleton. He OD'd a couple months ago but survived. The military has paid for his rehab several times before, but what I never understood is they will wean him off everything but the benzos. He stays clean a few months except for the Xanax then he starts the same cycle all over again. It's heartbreaking to watch someone you love destroy themselves, and there's nothing you can do to stop it.",

"text": "I work for a company that helps people come off of medications. We have known for more than ten years that a Benzo withdrawal was comparable or even worse than a heroin withdrawal. If you quit cold turkey you may go into shock and cardiac arrest. One of the saddest client experiences was when a mother and her 8 year old came to us. His school counsellor mentioned that he was having problems with his attention and he seemed anxious in class. The boy was prescribed 3 different medications and two, TWO were benzos. Turns out that he wasn't sleeping well because he was being bullied by some older boys and he was fearful of recess and lunch because that's where they would corner him and that's all he could think about. This child had to go through the withdrawals that an adult should never have to experience, because some school counsellor thought that he needed drugs instead of looking for the root cause of the anxiety in the first place. What a world.",

Begged the dr for a plan to help, pacing round the house all day, pins and needles in arm, diarrhoea, spasms. It only took 6 weeks to get that full dependence. Worst mistake of my life. "text": "As someone with constant chronic anxiety and depression and stress disorders - his \"sickness\" was more than likely an unfortunate symptom of chronic stress, which is your body is technically healthy to doctors, but it somehow also begins to feel like it's failing in little ways that they can't seem to test or prove. For me, I feel like I have some sort of terrible GI tract or anemia or something but everytime I ask them to test it, they tell me they can't find anything and it's probably stress. ",

"text": "I was addicted to Benzos. The absolutely most terrifyingly difficult thing to do in my life. Addicted for years and finally took 8 months to slowly get off using a method only 1 doctor would agree to. Any professional in addiction medicine will tell you Benzos are by far the most dangerous drugs to get off of, you can absolutely die or be driven completely insane - permanently.",

"text": "Same thing happened to me. I've always had anxiety and when there was a period where i was under extreme stress where I wasn't sleeping, I was prescribed 1mg of xanax to take every night. After a couple of years I decided to get off of them. I didn't realize how dependent my body had come to rely on them because I wasnt mentally addicted. Went through a year of pure hell and started having SEVERE panic attacks everyday when I had never had them before. Even took myself to the ER a couple of times thinking I was having a stroke. It's been almost 3 years since I've taken any benzo and though things have gotten much better, I've never been cognitively the same. ",

People pass judgement but there is no typical \"type \" of person who can get snagged in the pill hell. Some pills are called non addictive even as a person will have shakes and see things when they simply run out and haven't made it to get a refill. Be kind.",

"text": "Getting off benzos was the most difficult thing I've ever had to do. It was pure torture for close to a year. I have to laugh at people who think Peterson becoming dependent on benzos somehow discredits him but imo it actually fortifies his teachings. He was self aware enough to realize he had a problem and then wad strong enough to remedy the problem. I'm not a disciple of his and there are plenty of things I disagree with but I respect the man and enjoy listening to his logic.",

"text": "I was on Xanax and Clonazepam for 14 years. I was also addicted to oxycodone for 10 years. The benzos were hands down the worst to get off of. I've been off of opiates since June 22, 2018 and benzos since January 2017. While getting off of benzos I had multiple seizures and really thought I was going to die. When getting off of opiates I felt like I was going to die but knew I just had to ride it out. Thank you God for helping me through it all!",

"text": "I have a friend whose downward spiral began with benzos. He was prescribed them for his PTSD after 2 tours in Afghanistan. He then began drinking heavily and went to opiate pills then heroin. Now he's on meth. He's a shadow of his former self. He's a skeleton. He OD'd a couple months ago but survived. The military has paid for his rehab several times before, but what I never understood is they will wean him off everything but the benzos. He stays clean a few months except for the Xanax then he starts the same cycle all over again. It's heartbreaking to watch someone you love destroy themselves, and there's nothing you can do to stop it.",

"text": "I work for a company that helps people come off of medications. We have known for more than ten years that a Benzo withdrawal was comparable or even worse than a heroin withdrawal. If you quit cold turkey you may go into shock and cardiac arrest. One of the saddest client experiences was when a mother and her 8 year old came to us. His school counsellor mentioned that he was having problems with his attention and he seemed anxious in class. The boy was prescribed 3 different medications and two, TWO were benzos. Turns out that he wasn't sleeping well because he was being bullied by some older boys and he was fearful of recess and lunch because that's where they would corner him and that's all he could think about. This child had to go through the withdrawals that an adult should never have to experience, because some school counsellor thought that he needed drugs instead of looking for the root cause of the anxiety in the first place. What a world.",

"text": "Same thing happened to me. I've always had anxiety and when there was a period where i was under extreme stress where I wasn't sleeping, I was prescribed 1mg of xanax to take every night. After a couple of years I decided to get off of them. I didn't realize how dependent my body had come to rely on them because I wasnt mentally addicted. Went through a year of pure hell and started having SEVERE panic attacks everyday when I had never had them before. Even took myself to the ER a couple of times thinking I was having a stroke. It's been almost 3 years since I've taken any benzo and though things have gotten much better, I've never been cognitively the same. ",

People pass judgement but there is no typical \"type \" of person who can get snagged in the pill hell. Some pills are called non addictive even as a person will have shakes and see things when they simply run out and haven't made it to get a refill. Be kind.",
