Reliability notes: `data.items: null` can mean a transient LinkedIn-side failure, a query that is too broad, or pagination past LinkedIn's accessible result window. Always retry null responses before treating them as definitive. `start: 0` is unusually flaky; prefer `start: 10` as the first practical page or retry page 0 with `start: 10`. Use bounded pagination with `start` values from 10 through about 990 and do not request `start >= 1000`. Keep searches narrow, ideally below roughly 10,000 reported total results, by combining 2-3 specific filters. Broad searches such as keywordTitle alone, geo alone, a large company alone, or first/last name alone often return a populated total with null items. For large companies, add firstName, lastName, or a specific keywordTitle. Do not treat `total` as an exact count; it is a fluctuating LinkedIn estimate.
